Danny Rolph pushes painting to a limit where the work takes on sculptural properties and trompe l’oeil features. Referencing Pop Art, Old Masters and consumer culture, Rolph juxtaposes abstract painterly brushwork with figuration and collaged compositions of found materials, photos and studies from other works.
