Artist / John Carter

These works hover between painting and sculpture flatness, colour and surface treatment are combined with physical bulk, incised lines and supporting structures. Optical tensions created by juxtaposing the square and the parallelogram, vertical and off-vertical elements. A compound of acrylic binder, marble powder and pigment is applied to the plywood structure, then sanded down, allowing for variations in tone and colour.
