Artist / Keith Roberts
Information
Keith Roberts is wrestling with a need to excavate and disrupt his apparently traditional paintings. ‘I am interested in making images that reflect the history, layering and stratification of their subject, whilst also acknowledging the uncertainties of memory. Engaging with the city for example, the image appears to be falling apart yet remains complete. The paint application allows a history to build up which is then sometimes altered or even obliterated by subsequent additions. The work reflects the city as a site of constant re-invention.’ Keith Roberts
